Auspicious Muhurats

Auspicious Days & Muhurats

A monthly guide to the most auspicious days, vrats and observances, prepared by astrologer Harsh D Joshi of Krushn Darsshan Astro. Dates follow the Hindu Panchang and can differ slightly between Ahmedabad and Melbourne, as they depend on local sunrise, sunset and time zone; where they differ, both are shown. For any important event, confirm the exact muhurta for your location.

Most spiritually powerful days - August

  • 9-10 August - Vishnu and Shiva Upasana, fasting, Abhishek and mantra practice.
  • 12-13 August - Amavasya and the eclipse period; best for inward practice, Japa, Daan and ancestral prayers - not an ordinary launch muhurta.
  • 17 August - A powerful day for Nag Devata, Lord Shiva and Surya Upasana.
  • 23-24 August - Putrada Ekadashi, especially beneficial for family welfare and prayers concerning children.
  • 28 August - The month’s most significant prosperity and family-blessing day (Varalakshmi Vrat, Raksha Bandhan, Gayatri Jayanti and Shravan Purnima).

Please note: A festival date by itself is not a final muhurta for major life decisions. For marriage, Griha Pravesh, a business or website launch, property or vehicle purchase, or signing major agreements, a personalised local calculation is essential - checking the local Tithi, Nakshatra, Lagna, Rahukal, Bhadra, eclipse influence and the individual Kundali. Two points for August 2026: the Amavasya and solar-eclipse window around 12-13 August is best reserved for inward practice and should not be used as an auspicious launch; and the Melbourne location-based calendar lists no standard auspicious marriage muhurta during August 2026 (linked to Guru Tara Asta and related considerations), so please speak with Harsh before fixing any wedding date.
